KLIK Radio is selling tickets to Elitch Gardens for just $20! They are good for any operating day in May (you can visit Elitch Garden’s web site for a calendar of all the available days until we get an FCYB-friendly copy), and they include a little bit of free food, a voucher for another cheap ticket in September (just $15), and the opportunity to upgrade to a season pass for just $30!
So overall, it’s a great deal! Our goal is to sell 300 tickets. We’re crazy, right? Maybe…but we love roller coasters.
We get our first initial batch of 50 tickets on March 16, and you can reserve a ticket to pay cash later or buy one right now.
Have fun at Elitch’s!

We are going to give Kickstarter a try for this March pledge drive. Basically, how it works, we have to raise $350 by 10:00 PM on March 31. If we don’t, we don’t get any of the money pledged to us. It’s all or nothing.
Obviously, we can raise more than $350, too. And we get all of it. So…if you haven’t already pledged, do it to it!
In the future, we hope to use Kickstarter for just a couple things:
- Equipment purchases
- Fundraiser expenses (by using Kickstarter, we can virtually eliminate the risk associated with holding a fundraiser)
The results of this general pledge drive will determine whether or not we continue to use Kickstarter in the future for general expenses. However, equipment purchases and fundrasiers are definitely things Kickstarter can be used for, and we are even in the talks of setting up a Kickstarter project specifically for a dance fundraiser! So…watch out world!

March is coming soon. What does that mean for KLIK? March Madness!
We have three major goals for the organization this month:
- Raise $1,000.
- Win the $5,000 Pepsi grant.
- Get one new show per week.
These three goals are very ambitious, and our volunteers have their work cut out for them. However, if they can pull it off, things around KLIK will be spectacular! We are also considering creating YouTube videos outlining these three goals: why you should donate, what we can do if we win the grant, and why you should volunteer with KLIK.
It will be a busy month, and we’ll try to keep this blog updated as much as possible with updates. So, until next time, give our fundraiser a nice kick-off and donate today!

Hey Everyone,
We’re almost done with the Bohemian grant!! This grant (if we get it) will pay for us to buy a new mixer, so we can get rid of the small one we have now, and get a multi-line phone system. Keep your fingers crossed, it would be a joy to get this grant!
Also as far as grants go, please go to http://www.refresheverything.com/klikradio and vote for us to win the Pepsi 5K grant.
February is a big month, as far as money need goes. And since we wont get the grants until at least March we have some fund raising to do! So get out there and ask your friends, neighbors, grandparents, and coaches for donations! THANKS!
Peter

Yes, it’s that time again. Time for you to express your support for KLIK Radio! This is for real money, though. And to get our hands on $5,000 (out of a total $1,300,000 that Pepsi is giving away), we need your votes!
It’s very simple to vote for KLIK. Simply visit http://www.refresheverything.com/klikradio and click “Vote!” Want to get reminded daily to vote for us? No problem, just send an e-mail to pepsi@klikradio.org and we’ll e-mail you a friendly reminder every day to vote for KLIK. (This trick also works with your cell phone.)
On an unrelated side note, we’re putting the final touches on our Bohemian Foundation grant application for new equipment this summer. Keep your fingers crossed, it’s the last summer Jake has off to help us! 🙂
Thanks for your support of KLIK Radio!

There are four big pieces of news today that FCYB would like to release.
- It is with sadness that we accept the resignation of Kelsey Barnes as president of the board. She only served with us a short time, but she felt she wouldn’t be able to meet the demands of the position and balance it with her school work. She will be staying with KLIK Radio as a DJ, and may assume the role of volunteer coordinator. More information on this as the story develops. In the meantime, the FCYB secretary is accepting nominations for the position between January 11 and January 19. Voting will take place between January 19 and January 23. Nominations can be e-mailed to nominations@fcyb.org.
- Jake Wood (remember him?) has been donating time from Boston to develop a really cool web interface for our SAM Broadcaster application. Members will soon be able to upload music from home, categorize their music into different genres, and much more. The interface was developed due to the foreseen need to be able to manage the music database while people in the studio use the application to broadcast.
- A grantwriting committee is being developed! It is currently being headed up by Peter, and Jake will be advising and steering the grants in the right direction. We hope to apply for two grants: one from the Bohemian Foundation for equipment and capital upgrades, and another from Pepsi as a part of their “Refresh Everything” campaign. We need talented writers to help with both of these applications, and we’d love to see some volunteers come out of the woodwork to help out with this.
- Our annual report is coming very soon! We just have some compiling and updating to do, and it will be released right here on the FCYB blog. Check back in the next few days to see it!
Thanks for your continued support of Fort Collins Youth Broadcasting, and keep listening!

We are glad to ring in the new year with some fresh volunteers and a board that is coming along.
Communication is becoming a goal for everyone to help solve problems everyone has recently encountered. One way we are striving to keep everyone informed and in contact is by creating a Volunteer Coordinator position within KLIK! This position has not been filled yet, but once it is, communication between everyone can be regulated and contact information updated as volunteers come and go.
Another position that we are hoping to fill is the Fundraising Coordinator. Right now, this is what we really need: a person whos main focus is fundraisers.
Neither the F.C. or the V.C. positions have been filled, but we are planning for more new volunteers for 2010, so they will hopefully get filled and help the organization grow and become more organized.

We nominated KLIK Radio to win a $5K #smallbiz grant on LoveALocalBusiness.com. Help them win!
Basically, this company called Intuit (the creators of Quicken and QuickBooks) are holding a “Love a Local Business” competition. Whichever businesses get loved the most get a higher chance of winning a $5,000 grant! It’s $4,000 cash plus $1,000 worth of Intuit services, but we’d be more than happy to get our hands on QuickBooks Premier for Non-profits. :D So…if you love us…tell Intuit!

KLIK Radio is moving on December 18th! Our new address will be:
KLIK Radio
220 E Mulberry St.
Fort Collins, CO 80524
We still need to sign the lease and get our suite number, but that’s the new address! Until Friday, there will be no live shows this week. Sorry folks. According to the realtor, the lease is month-to-month, with will be very helpful in ensuring that we can get the organization back to financial health. More details on our near-death are documented in the upcoming annual report.
Over the next couple weeks up to the end of the year, we’re going to be adding more and more documents and policies to our “About Us” page. We’ve started adopting these “mini-rules” as we’ve learned we need to do over the year. For instance, our “good neighbor” policy is going to establish procedures and policies on how KLIK is going to strive to be a good neighbor to others, what consequences there are for breaking those policies, etc. Our anti-discrimination policy has been in place since 2007 which outlaws discrimination of any kind, but it will be now available for public viewing.
We also have a new web site template! Hooray! We’re hoping that donors, parents, and the foundations that support us will find this site a bit easier to use and a bit more attractive. Maybe people will start commenting on posts, we welcome them.
Until next time! Time for finals.
